Tips to Score the Magical IELTS Score for PR in Canada
Obtain a Magical IELTS Score of 7-7-7-8 and Change your Canada Express Entry GameIELTS is one of the most popular English language tests for Canadian immigration. Most professional organizations in Canada accept it, and English is the first official language of Canada; skilled visa applicants must take IELTS or any other language test. It is one of the leading testing systems and employs international standards to examine the candidates in 4 key ability areas, including:
- Listening: There are 40 questions that you have to answer within 30 minutes, and extra 10 minutes is given for transference
- Reading: There are 40 questions that you have to answer within 60 minutes.
- Writing: There are two tasks to be completed within 60 minutes.
- Speaking: Three parts must be completed within 11 to 14 minutes.
Your IELTS score is one of the essential parts of your Canadian immigration file. The IELTS band score or other approved language tests are a must for all economic immigration programs in Canada. What's more important is to improve your IELTS score by just a few points and get the desired boost in your overall Canada CRS score. Increasing your IELTS band scores by just one or two points helps you get a higher CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) score. A CLB score is used for equating different scoring systems from various language tests for Canadian immigration purposes. The Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) converts an applicant's IELTS scores into CLB for determining how many CRS points their Express Entry profile will obtain. The difference a higher IELTS band score of 7-7-7-8 Can Bring A higher CLB score significantly affects your overall CRS score for Canada Express Entry. Combined with other skills transferability factors, like your education credentials, a slight hike in overall CLB score may result in a hike of up to 100 CRS points. Let's analyze two hypothetical profiles in the Express Entry pool of candidates:
PROFILE A Single applicant: 30 Years Old Education: Bachelors degree/3-year diploma Skilled work experience: 3 or more years gained outside of Canada Canadian Connection: Close relative living in Canada Language Test: Test results support a CLB 7 Total CRS Scores: 346 | PROFILE B Single applicant: 30 Years Old Education: Bachelors degree/3-year diploma Skilled work experience: 3 or more years gained outside of Canada Canadian Connection: Close relative living in Canada Language Test: Test results support a CLB 9 Total CRS Score: 439 |
You can see that there is a difference of almost 100 points between both the profiles. Profile B has only 2 points higher CLB score compared to Profile A, meaning the first applicant must score only one or two points higher in all four IELTS sections to improve their overall CRS score. A slight improvement can help you meet the CRS cut-off score requirement for an Express Entry invitation round.
IELTS Category | CLB 7 | CLB 9 |
Speaking | 6.0 | 7.0 |
Reading | 6.0 | 7.0 |
Writing | 6.0 | 7.0 |
Listening | 6.0 | 8.0 |
