Eligibility criteria for Express Entry

Candidates with required skilled work experience, educational qualifications and English or French language proficiency are ideal for this program. To qualify, candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria and apply for one of the Express Entry programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The MEC, i.e. Minimum eligibility criteria to qualify and apply under Express Entry as a skilled foreign worker, is as follows:

  • You must have a minimum of one year of full-time work experience gained in the past ten years in a skilled occupation under NOC Skill Level O, A or B
  • You must undergo an approved English or French language test and score a minimum of CLB seven
  • You must have finished post-secondary education and submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report for a foreign degree or diploma to prove that they are equivalent to Canadian standards

The IRCC (Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada) selects candidates who score better points. To score maximum CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) points, you must:

  • Age at least 30 years
  • Hold a minimum of two Bachelors or a Masters degree
  • Demonstrate a high level of English or French language proficiency by scoring CLB level nine or ten
  • Have a minimum of three years of skilled work experience in an occupation listed under NOC Skill Level ), A or B
